After a lifelong dream of retiring from Escambia County School Board, Deloris Snow Purifoy decided she would continue in the mission field as God had a different plan for her. Upon retiring she realized that God required her services as a Pastor, and she quickly answered the call. As a praying woman she named the church: Community House of Prayer
The first service was held in February 2007 in a very small venue located at 5050 North Davis highway. The Lord continued to bless and after 2 short years the Davis highway location became too small. So, in 2009 the ministry relocated to 8260 N Pensacola Blvd. The Lord was faithful and continued to bless the ministry. Upon inception the Pastor’s creed had always been “Reach the Lost at Any Cost” and quote “there will be only one offering taken up”. Pastor Deloris Snow Purifoy always said that her most memorable moment was Sunday October 16th, 2011, when Mother Autherine Robinson and 20 family members joined community House of prayer.
Through continuous fasting and prayer, November 2015 Minister Christopher Sanders stepped out on faith and inquired about a church at 6400 N. Old Palafox Street. Pastor Purifoy walked through the church that we sit in today, touched every pew, and prayed.
On December 10th, 2015, God called our beloved Founder and Pastor home to rest. On April 10, 2016, the prayers of our Founder were fulfilled. We marched into our new church under the leadership of our Co-Founder Deacon Johnny Lee Purifoy and our devoted Interim Pastor Elder Christopher Banks. On July 10, 2016, Pastor Greg Burns appointed minister Christopher Sanders to be Pastor. Still today we remember our late Founders’ words: “We've come this far by faith” and with God's help we will continue to “Reach the Lost at Any Cost”.
